After investigating possible violations of consumer protection or competition laws, in some instances we may decide against taking immediate enforcement action. A decision to close an investigation could reflect how much consumers were harmed, the enforcement priorities of the FTC, or how to best allocate agency resources. The agency may choose to take action later if it is necessary.
