FTC HISTORY: BUREAU OF ECONOMICS CONTRIBUTIONS TO LAW ENFORCEMENT, RESEARCH, AND ECONOMIC KNOWLEDGE AND POLICY, ROUNDTABLE WITH FORMER DIRECTORS OF THE BUREAU OF ECONOMICS (2003).  A roundtable discussion with thirteen directors of the Bureau of Economics, whose tenures covered five decades of the agency’s history.  The program was held to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of the creation of the FTC’s predecessor agency, the Bureau of Corporations.

William Kovacic, The Federal Trade Commission and Congressional Oversight of Antitrust Enforcement, 17 TULSA L.J. 587 (1982).  Though weighted toward the period from 1969-80, this article includes a substantial discussion of the FTC’s earlier years as well. 

Marc Winerman, History Through Headlines, 72 ANTITRUST L.J. 871 (2005).  This article surveys the broad sweep of the agency’s first 90 years – including high-profile actions that didn’t involve litigation -- by examining front-page stories covering the FTC from the New York Times.
