How do consumers benefit from America’s antitrust laws? Learn all about it in a new brochure from the Federal Trade Commission, “Competition Counts: How Consumers Win When Businesses Compete.”
This plain-language guide is written for consumers and business people who might not know how the FTC’s Bureau of Competition helps to ensure that consumers have choices in price, selection, and service. By enforcing antitrust laws, it explains, the FTC promotes healthy competition and challenges anticompetitive business practices to ensure that consumers have access to quality goods and services, and that businesses can compete on the merits of their work.
“Competition Counts” highlights the FTC’s mission to promote and protect competition and describes business practices that affect consumers the most: company mergers, agreements among competitors, restrictive agreements between manufacturers and product dealers, and monopolies.
The brochure, available at www.ftc.gov/competitioncounts, encourages readers to contact the FTC or state antitrust agencies if they suspect illegal behavior.
The Federal Trade Commission works to promote competition, and to protect and educate consumers. The FTC will never demand money, make threats, tell you to transfer money, or promise you a prize. You can learn more about how competition benefits consumers, file an antitrust complaint, or comment on a proposed merger.
