Event Description

The FTC, the American Society of Clinical Nutrition, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention hosted a public conference to examine issues arising from the increased prevalence of overweight persons in the United States and what consumers stand to gain and lose from various means of weight reduction. Participants considered such topics as what motivates consumers to lose weight, what information they need to evaluate products and programs, and the means by which necessary information can be conveyed to consumers.
