FTC sends payments to people who paid for student debt relief
The FTC is sending 7,150 checks totaling more than $356,900 to people who paid for student debt relief services from SL Finance.
According to the FTC, SL Finance and its owners impersonated the Department of Education including fake COVID-19 relief programs, collected illegal upfront fees, and falsely promised to reduce or forgive student loans.
If you got a check, please cash it within 90 days.
