The National Do Not Call Registry Data Book contains statistical data about phone numbers on the Registry, telemarketers and sellers accessing phone numbers on the Registry, and complaints consumers submit to the FTC about telemarketers allegedly violating the Do Not Call rules. Statistical data on Do Not Call (DNC) complaints is based on unverified complaints reported by consumers, not on a consumer survey.


FY 2017 Do Not Call Complaints. Total DNC Complaints: 6,103,364. Active DNC Registrations: 229,816,164. Graph of Complaints Over Time, from 2017 through 2020: starting at about 0, then jumping to about 1 million at the end of 2017, dropping back to about 450,000 for most of the next two years, with dips around 125,000. Note: between December 28, 2018 and January 26, 2019, the complaint intake portals were unavailable due to the government shutdown.

Do Not Call complaint data are based on unverified complaints filed by consumers. The data are not based on a consumer survey. Complaints older than five years are purged biannually.
