Applications for approval of transactions: The FTC has received applications for approval of transactions from the following. The FTC is seeking public comments on the applications for 30 days, until July 7, 1998.

  • LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc., formerly known as Lawyers Title Corporation (LTC) has submitted seven divestiture applications to the FTC. The divestitures are required under a consent order with the FTC that settles charges its acquisition of the title insurance operations of Reliance Group Holdings, Inc., including Reliance Group’s indirect subsidiaries Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company and Transnation Title Insurance Company, would reduce competition in local markets for title plant services in 11 localities in three states, and the District of Columbia. The applications submitted involve one title plant in each of the following localities: the District of Columbia, to J&M Abstracts, Inc.; Indian River County, Florida, to Universal Land Title, Inc.; St. Lucie County, Florida, to Universal Title, Inc; Brevard County, Florida, to State Title & Guarantee Co., Inc.; Ingham County, Michigan, to Midstate Title Company; and two title plants in Pasco County, Florida, to Keystone Title Agency, Inc. and Associated Land Title Group, Inc., respectively.
