Commission Authorization to File Amended Complaint:

The Commission has authorized the staff to file an amended complaint in the court case currently pending against Hudson Berkley, et al. The complaint is one of several that the FTC brought in May 2002 that focused on allegedly misleading advertisements for electronic ab exercise products. Through this action, the FTC has added Oliver Braun, an owner, officer, and/or managing agent of TMI Tricom Marketing and a director of Cad Cam Industries Ltd., Inc., as a defendant in this matter. The Commission vote authorizing the staff to file the amended complaint was 5-0. (FTC File No. X020063, Civ. No. CV-S-020649-PMP-RJJ (D. Nev.); staff contact is Heather Hippsley, Bureau of Consumer Protection, 202-326-3285; see press release dated May 8, 2002.)

Correction to FTC press release:

The Commission's November 5, 2002 press release announcing a proposed consent agreement with Dr. Robert M. Currier erroneously stated the final date of the 30-day public comment period. The correct date is December 5, 2002. (FTC File No. 002-3211; staff contacts are James Reilly Dolan or Lemuel Dowdy, Bureau of Consumer Protection, 202-326-3292 or 202-326-2981.)
