  • The FTC has approved a petition from the following to reopen and modify a Commission order: Meade Instruments Corporation, in the matter of Harbour Group Investments, L.P. In its petition, Meade had requested the removal of Paragraph II of the Commission's August 19, 1991 consent order to eliminate the prior approval requirement.

Under this Paragraph, for 10 years from the date the consent order became final, Meade was required to obtain the Commission's approval before acquiring any stock, share capital, equity interest or assets (other than purchases of manufactured products in the ordinary course of business) of any company engaged in the domestic manufacture of mid-sized Schmidt-Cassegrain astronomical telescopes with apertures of eight to 11 inches. The Commission's modification substitutes a Prior Notice Provision for the Prior Approval Provision in the original order. The Commission vote to modify the original order was 5-0. (Docket No. D09244; staff contact is Daniel P. Ducore, 202-326-2526; see press releases dated September 4, 1991 and February 23, 2000.)

  • Following a public comment period, the Commission has made final a consent agreement with the following: Abbott Laboratories and Geneva Pharmaceuticals, Inc. The Commission vote to finalize the consent order was 5-0. (File No. 981-0395; staff contact is Richard A. Feinstein, Bureau of Competition, 202-326-3688; see press release dated March 16, 2000.)
