The Rubber Manufacturers Association, Inc. has petitioned the Federal Trade Commission to terminate orders entered in 1948 and 1962 following charges that the Association and numerous members engaged in price-fixing. The Association seeks termination pursuant to the Commission's "sunsetting" policy, under which the Commission presumes that the public interest requires terminating competition orders more than 20 years old.

The orders prohibit the Association from formulating or enforcing resale price agreements, exchanging price information or entering into price-fixing agreements.

The petition will be subject to public comment for 30 days, until May 10, after which the Commission will issue its decision.

Comments should be directed to FTC, Office of the Secretary, 6th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20580.

Copies of the petition to reopen and set aside the orders, and the orders themselves, are available from the FTC's Public Reference Branch, Room 130 at the address listed above; 202-326- 2222; TTY for the hearing impaired 1-866-653-4261.
