Commission authorization of amended complaint filing: The Commission has authorized the staff to file an amended complaint in the case currently pending against Juan Matos, individually and doing business as QTX, and Belinda Cure. According to the agency, the defendants violated Section 5 of the FTC Act and the Telemarketing Sales Rule by making false earnings claims in connection with the marketing and sale of work-at-home craft assembly business opportunities through Spanish-language advertisements. The amended complaint, which can be found on the FTC's Web site as a link to this press release, adds Jackson Sarcar as a defendant in this matter.

Commission approval of Federal Register notice: The Commission has approved the publication of a Federal Register notice concerning the FTC's Regulatory Reform Project and Rule Review for 2007. The notice, which can be found on the Commission's Web site as a link to this press release, states that in the coming year, the FTC will conduct a review of the Guides for Select Leather and Imitation Leather Products, 16 CFR part 24; the Mail or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule (Mail Order Rule, 16 CFR part 435; and the Guide Concerning Fuel Economy Advertising for New Automobiles, 16 CFR part 259). The notice also contains a revised regulatory review calendar for the next 10 years.
