After conducting a detailed investigation of the proposed merger of AmeriSource Health Corporation and Bergen Brunswig Corporation, the Federal Trade Commission has voted to close the matter and to allow the merger to proceed without taking any enforcement action. A statement issued by the Commission discusses the reasons for its conclusion in this matter.

The Commission vote to close the investigation was 5-0. Although he concurred with the Commission's decision in this matter, Commissioner Mozelle Thompson issued a separate statement in which he voiced some concerns about the merger.

Copies of the Commission's Statement, and the separate statement of Commissioner Thompson, are available from the FTC's web site at http://www.ftc.gov and also from the FTC's Consumer Response Center, Room 130, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20580.
