Approval of amended complaint:

The Commission has approved the filing of an amended complaint in the following matter: FTC v. Epic Resorts, et al. The original complaint in this matter was filed as part of "Operation Travel Unravel," a travel-fraud sweep announced by the Commission on August 22, 2000. Through the amended complaint, the FTC alleges that the defendants violated the Truth in Lending Act (TILA) and its implementing Regulation Z by failing to issue credits to consumers after telling them that such credits would be issued. The Commission vote to amend the complaint was 5-0. The amended complaint was filed on September 1, 2000. Reopening and modification of final order:

The Commission has voted to reopen and modify a final FTC order concerning the following: Alliant Techsystems, Inc. On March 16, 1993, the Commission approved a final order prohibiting Alliant from acquiring or selling any interests or assets of a system contractor for 30mm lightweight ammunition or 120mm tank ammunition without prior approval of the Commission for 10 years from the date of the order. Citing the Commission's "Prior Approval Policy Statement," issued in June 1995, Alliant requested that the FTC modify the original order to replace the "prior approval" requirement with a "prior notice" requirement. The Commission vote to reopen and modify the order was 5-0. (Docket No. 9524; staff contact is Elizabeth A. Piotrowski, 202-326-2623; see press releases dated December 18, 1992 and March 22, 1993.)
