FTC SENDS REFUNDS TO NETSPEND CUSTOMERS
The FTC is sending PayPal payments totaling $953,000 to more than 33,000 NetSpend customers. These refunds are the result of a 2017 settlement between the FTC and NetSpend Corporation.
The FTC sued NetSpend, and the company agreed to settle. According to the FTC complaint, many NetSpend customers were unable to access their funds, either because NetSpend denied or delayed activation of their card or because NetSpend blocked them from using it.
In September 2018, the FTC sent checks to more than 430,000 people totaling more than $10 million. Now, the FTC is sending PayPal payments to people who did not cash their check and have a valid email address on file.
If you receive a PayPal payment, you have 30 days to accept it. If you do not have a PayPal account, and would prefer to get a check, please call 1-888-684-4858.
