FTC SENDS EMAILS TO NETSPEND CUSTOMERS ELIGIBLE FOR PAYMENT
The FTC is sending emails to more than 50,000 NetSpend customers who will soon receive a refund via PayPal. These refunds are the result of a 2017 settlement between the FTC and NetSpend Corporation.
The FTC sued NetSpend, and the company agreed to settle. According to the FTC complaint, many NetSpend customers were unable to access their funds, either because NetSpend denied or delayed activation of their card or because NetSpend blocked them from using it.
In September 2018, the FTC sent checks to more than 430,000 people totaling more than $10 million. Now, the FTC is sending emails to people who did not cash their check and have a valid email address on file.
If you received an email from the FTC regarding NetSpend refunds, you don't need to do anything right now.
Refunds will be issued by PayPal on November 20, 2021. Once the payments are issued, you will receive an email from PayPal about your refund.
If you would prefer to get a check instead, please call 1-888-684-4858 before November 3, 2021.
