FTC Staff Comments on Study of Privacy Issues in Bankruptcy Data
The staff of the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection ("BCP") has submitted comments to the Department of Justice, the Department of the Treasury, and the Office of Management and Budget (the "Study Agencies") focusing on the privacy and identity theft issues raised by the collection and use of personal financial and other information in personal bankruptcy proceedings.

FTC Continues Crackdown on Office Supply Scams
In a continuing effort to combat office supply scams, the Federal Trade Commission announced today that it has filed suits in federal district courts against three companies who are involved in office supply fraud.

FTC Testifies on Credit Scoring
In testimony presented today before the House Banking and Financial Services Committee's Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit, the Federal Trade Commission said that it "supports the disclosure of credit scores and information regarding those scores in a context that is useful and meaningful to consumers."
