The Federal Trade Commission today announced that Eric D. London, most recently Deputy Communications Director in the office of Democratic Minority Leader Richard A. Gephardt, has been named Director of the Commission's Office of Public Affairs (OPA). In his new position, London will manage OPA's day-to-day operations and will serve as the FTC's main staff liaison between the Commission and members of the print and electronic media.

In his tenure as Deputy Communications Director for Gephardt, London was lead speechwriter and was responsible for technology press issues in the Leader's office.

Prior to his appointment as Deputy Communications Director, London held the position of Executive Director of the Foundation for Maryland's Future, a Silver Spring, Maryland-based non-profit organization. He also served in the Department of Commerce from 1993 to 1994.

London received an undergraduate degree from Brandeis University in 1986 and a Juris Doctor degree from George Washington University in 1989.
