Commission approval of amended complaint: The Commission has authorized the staff to file an amended complaint in the matter currently pending against Remote Response Corp. According to the original complaint in this matter, filed in January 2006, during the fraudulent marketing of guaranteed, pre-approved MasterCards and other products to Spanish-speaking consumers, the defendants made deceptive representations, failed to deliver the promised items, and engaged in unauthorized billing while upselling discount health plans. Through the amended complaint, the Commission has added Samuel M. Salama, Elias M. Salama, and Joseph Bensabat as defendants in this matter. The three are co-owners of Remote Response Corporation and helped manage its day-to-day operations.

The Commission vote authorizing the staff to file the amended complaint was 5-0. Copies of the amended complaint are available now on the FTC’s Web site as a link to this press release. (FTC File No. X060026; the staff contact is Patricia F. Bak, Bureau of Consumer Protection, 202-326-2842.)
