Complaints by Call Type and Fiscal Year

In 2013 there were 3.7 million complaints, of which 2.1 million were robocalls and 1.5 million were live callers. In 2014 there were 3.2 complaints, of which 1.7 million were robocalls and 1.4 million were live callers. In 2015 there were 3.5 million complaints, of which 2.1 million were robocalls and 1.3 million were live callers. In 2016 there were 5.3 million complaints, of which 3.4 million were robocalls and 1.8 million were live callers. In 2017 there were 7.1 million complaints, of which 4.5 million were robocalls and 2.5 million were live callers.

The total includes complaints about robocalls, complaints about live callers, and complaints where the call type was not reported. The number of calls where a call type was not reported is relatively small every year. The data is available at www.ftc.gov/donotcall-databook2017.
