Request for Comments and Announcement of Workshop on Pet Medications Issues, Project No. P121201
We have a clinic and pet lodge. In August $8,000 of cat Revolution parasite prescription, was loaded in the trunk of my Avalanche to transport and store at the pet lodge. Due to other distractions, this shipment was left in the hot trunk for 3 days. Temperatures were later measured and estimated to be well over 125 degrees for extended periods of time. Knowing that the product is labeled to preserve at 86 degrees, I realized I compromised the product and would be selling prescription that would fail it's purpose. In this ethical dilemma I feared losing $8,000 but was compelled to ask Pfizer for help. Pfizer recovered the damaged product and replaced it at no charge. Bless them and my decision not to sale compromised prescriptions. Grey market products are routinely exposed to these conditions. It is important to keep drugs in the hands of professionals, not Internet marketers who compromise ethics and product as a way of doing business. The most expensive medication is the one that fails to work.
