Request for Comments and Announcement of Workshop on Pet Medications Issues, Project No. P121201
This is another unnecessary legislation that will do nothing to serve the consumers. Veterinary clients are free to use and are presently using different pharmacies of their choice. In this day and age, everybody is knowledgeable about global purchasing. This is a very informed world living on the web and using the internet information to make buying decisions and activities. Having medications in the office is a convenience one stop shopping alternative. Not all medications are available at common pharmacies, Sometimes combination medication and compounding are done at the office, depending on the patient needs. I am not sure you are aware of the fact that veterinarians put patients and people first and make the best recommendation for them and accommodate them. Many veterinarians are single practitioners or small practices with already unrealistic load of paper work and regulatory procedures. They do not have the resources to comply with unrealistic requirement such as the legislation in question. For the small business veterinarian this legislation is practically impossible to comply with. Whoever introduced the legislation might have intentions that are different then consumer protection.
