Proposed Amendments to the Fuel Rating Rule, FTC File No. R811005
I support providing consumers with clear, unbiased information. However, I have never seen such blatant misuse of this principle. Clearly the intent of the proposed labelling is to ensure the death of alternative energy fuels and the promotion of oil based gasoline. There should be information provided but no discrimination at all, ie. Same colour labels with same type face, print etc. (look and feel), no "danger" warnings ..... have we gone crazy?? Just say "Flex Fuel Vehicles only". And in the same normal print size. Both labels should contain the same information like Octane and in the case of blended fuel the % of ethanol. If anything fuel blends containing ethanol should be promoted for their environmental benefits and for the benefit of ensuring American jobs and reducing American dependence on foreign oil. They could be given a green (not organge or red!!)background (environmentally friendly) or a symbol that signifies the aforementioned benefits.
