This is all a fine effort but it misses the point. The issue is not abuses of free credit reports - it is abuses against the American public by financial institutions and credit reporting agencies. PLEASE see the movies 'Maxed Out' and 'Overdraft' for an honest portrayal of how financial institutions including those we the people have bailed out with our tax dollars, uphold systems that favor the rich and prevent those who are moderate or poor from ever improving their financial situations. Once again our government is wasting our money in a pathetically weak effort to distract from the real issues that need correction to allow all Americans to have opportunity and hope for the future. This includes preventing financial institutions from using our hard earned tax dollars to pay their executives unwarrantied salaries and bonuses, making the credit reporting system transparent and accountable and insisting our government officials create opportunities for all Americans not just those in the highest income brackets. Those in power are not affected by what the majority of Americans are struggling with - loss of jobs, loss of homes, financial destruction, loss of hope and opportunity. 'We the people for the people' is why our democratic government was created and if this basic criteria cannot be upheld and respected by our present elected officials - then we need to throw them out and start over again. Maybe when they lead our lives - they will learn what 'we the people for the people' - really means.
