I support your proposal to require a separate landing page on sites which advertise free reports which explains that the reports are NOT the free reports guaranteed by the federal government. I also support your proposal to delay advertising for other credit products until after consumers obtain their free annual credit reports. I signed up for one of these and nowhere on the website did they explain that there was a $29.99 monthly fee after the first 7 free trial days. I had to email customer service to find out what the charge was. I will say that they were excellent in canceling my service immediately without charge, but their website was deceitful. It was based on a misleading TV ad that nowhere mentions the fact that your free credit score comes with a fee for credit report service. This deceptive practice in both websites and TV ads must be stopped.
