16 CFR Part 610 Amendments to Rule to Prevent Deceptive Marketing of Credit Reports and to Ensure Access to Free Annual File Disclosures
I support your proposal to require a separate landing page on sites which advertise free reports which explains that the reports are NOT the free reports guaranteed by the federal government. Such statements must be a prominent part of the page not "fine print" that is overlooked due to flashy graphics, text or other items designed to fucus the viewers attention away from the information stating that this is not the free credit report guaranteed by the government. It should further state that the free government guaranteed reports can be obtained elsewhere without paying any fees or signing up for any trial subscriptions. I also support your proposal to delay advertising for other credit products until after consumers obtain their free annual credit reports.
