I am concerned about my privacy and absolutely livid that after it took YEARS to get off of dozens of mailing lists, I now am receiving a new barage of unsolicited junk paper mail just because I bought a house. After grilling several of the companies who sent the junk including Safeway, PNC Bank and a group that identified itself as MORTGAGE PROTECTION CENTER, I was informed that they "buy" lists from "the county" because they are a matter of "public record". This should be a crime. I should not have to call solitors to tell them not to send junk that I did not ask for in the first place. The fact that I just bought a house should not trigger a solicitor's feeding frenzy especially since I am on the so-called "DO NOT MAIL" list. Paper mail is environmentally abusive, an obsolete mode of communication and uses monetary and creative resources that should be channeled into more worthwhile endeavors such as HEALTH CARE and other incentives for workers. "Snail-Mail" is centuries old technology that most people under the age of 70 don't even look at much less read. The floor of our brand new condo building is littered with this junk from over-flowing trash cans as all of the residents are new buyers. Please stop this abuse of citizens across America. Thank you.
