Privacy Roundtables - Comment, Project No. P095416'
Attached please find two papers that explore the issue of common privacy principles shared between the United States and the EU. Although they are focused on privacy vis-a-vis the state, given the cross-cutting nature of EU privacy laws, many of the comparisons also extend to individual privacy in the marketplace. In "Towards a Right to Privacy in Transnational Intelligence Networks" the discussion is to be found on pp. 7-11. "The U.S. Privacy Act in Comparative Perspective" is a briefing note that was prepared for the European Parliament in spring 2007.
