From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I am strongly opposed to any attempt by the government to step in and try to rescue the media in any way shape or form. Taxing internet sites which aggregate news, e.g. Drudge, is outrageous. Those taxes would be used to prop up a failing enterprise, e.g. The New York Times. I recognize there are other methods that the FTC is considering that would be tantamount to government control of the media (the journalism branch of Obama's AmeriCorps and use of taxes to train future journalists. You are violation of the Constitution's Freedom of the Press. Freedom of the Press does not mean that the government is free to step in and try to control it.
