From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Taxpayor funds were never intended to prop up failing companies or industries. The government has no business getting involved in ANY industry to the extent they have under the current administration. And that is especially true when it comes to journalism. If today's publishers were fair and factual they could compete with the internet and other media. If they do not provide information the public finds helpful and of interest, then the public will not buy their product and they should be allowed to fail. I strenuously object to one dime of my tax money being spent to prop up failing newspapers. Not only is it the wrong thing to do but our future generations have already been spent into financial slavery. Let every industry earn their keep the old fashioned way....by providing something the public wants to buy.
