From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The advancement in technology today is remarkable. Private, public and governmental organizations throughout the country and the world have greatly benefited from this advanced technology and have completely changed the way they do their everyday business because of it. News organizations are, and should remain, private enterprises. They have had the same opportunities to embrace the technological advancements that have been taken advantage of by all other organizations. If the news organizations have failed to take full advantage of "the internet", for example, the fault lies squarely with themselves, for it is there for them. It SHOULD NOT be "mandated" by the U.S. Government that the American people should have to subsidize news organizations in any form. It is NOT constitutional to force citizens to subsidize any private business that the citizen may not wish to subsidize.
