From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I don't think I need to say any more than this: Governmental control of communication to the people is objectionable in so many ways I don't think I can enumerate them all. The opportunity for abuse, through miscommunication, "spin", omission, etc. is great, and I simply do not trust that such abuse would be less than widespread and methodical. Ultimately, this would obvioiusly be to the detriment of this country. I stand by this position whether such governmental control is direct or indirect, as through subsidy or taxation. Let the market sort it out. Journalism must evolve with the times or suffer its natural consequence. Ultimately, we MUST keep editorial comentary and political bias separate from factual newws!
