From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Dear Sirs: It is ludicrous and completely irresponsible for the government to try to squash or regulate free speech. I am sure you are familiar with a little thing called the Bill of Rights. Citizens of this great country are to be protected in their right to free speech and association. If old-fashioned news outlets cannot remain financially viable, it is not the taxpayers responsibility to bail them out. Perhaps the reason that so many of the "major media" is suffering could have something to do with the fact that most of them put the exact same spin on whatever it is that they all agree is news. People are sick and tired of this type of so-called "news" and therefore are using alternative media to try to make some sense of the mess we seem to have gotten ourselves into. Please leave the internet and talk radio alone and do not try to prop up failing media via discriminatory taxation or regulation directed towards their competition. Sincerely, Bruce G. Bulman
