From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
As the Federal Trade Commission convenes today “explore how the Internet has affected journalism”, I oppose any attempts to stifle free speech and silence conservatives. The FTC should not be holding public meetings of senior government officials and academics to look for ways for the government to prop up the liberal media. I oppose all attempts by the Obama Administration to seize control of the press”, including: * The creation of a journalism division of AmeriCorps which would force taxpayers to pay for training up the next generation of liberal journalists; and * A direct journalism bailout fund to “help pay the salary of every journalist”, which would force taxpayers to fund the liberal media. These are audacious attempts to silence conservative voices. I oppose any and all efforts to control speech, especially the FTC's plan to censor and tax conservative speech.
