From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I am adamantly opposed to the use of tax dollars to support a journalism component in Americorp. The federal government has no business intervening in any way to support certain media entities. The traditional journalism outlets are failing BECAUSE they do NOT supply unbiased news to the public -- and the public knows this. Imposing taxes on the newer type of media or trying to control them by discriminatory regulations is not acceptable. Government has no right to control the public's free access to news and ideas. It is not the place of government to decide winners and losers in journalism. That is despotic, not freedom of the press. I deeply resent government intrusion into and control over what news outlets are available to me. Stop these efforts to infringe on freedom of speech and press.
