From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
To the FTC - The best way to find out how journalism is going to survive is let the free market decide. This means that unless there is some unfair competition going on the government should pass no law or directive to interfere with the free market. Rest assured there are governments in the world that do prop up the press and they are communist in nature. Further, we the people will never trust the press that is propped up by the government because when the gov is paying the press's objectivity is compromised. Lastly the press is changing, there is no question about that. If the gov steps in it will just make the pain last longer instead of the market transitioning it the way it should. Just let these things work them selves out.
