From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The never-ending overreach of government into the private sector is nothing short of appalling. But to now consider the use of taxpayer funds to subsidize journalism and to stifle the free exchange of information is beyond upsetting. How dare the FTC or any other governmental unit try to stifle free speech? This is a cherished right, protected under the Constitution of the United States. It is NOT for the government to choose winners and losers, nor to force us to fund the government "chosen." This is not the Soviet Union (yet) and we have no need for an official government media voice. I am 100% opposed to any attempts to regulate free speech.
