From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Times change and people adapt to the changes. We have adapted to the new technological world, to a connected world. But what cannot and must never change is our freedom of speech. It has been earned with the blood of our soliders. The blood of brave men that risked their own lives for a better life, for a better country, for our freedom. Citizens must keep the right to choose where they get their news from. Journalism must not be funded using tax payer money. This is a capitalist nation and its citizens have produced wealth due to the privileges of freedom we have enjoyed. If journalism is losing money due to the recession, a bailout is not the answer. They must adapt to the changes that technology has brought about. They too can enjoy the freedom of the net. If liberal journalism is failing is because the citizens don't want to support them. Just as businesses fail because consumers don't buy their products, if citizens don't buy the liberal media, they should not be obliged to buy it or even pay for it to prevent it from failing. This nation will eventually collapse if the bailouts continue, because no one is bailing out the citizens that are funding the bailouts and eventually the citizens will run out of money, businesses will collapse and there will be no more wealth. Let freedom reign, and let this wonderful country continue being great.
