From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Our country has survived the loss of town criers due to the inefficiency of the business model. Our country will also survive the transition to electronic journalism. Freedom of speech is a cornerstone of American liberty. Attempts to curb that God-given right will not better our society, but will do the opposite. My public comment, (along with many other citizens), is to leave the media industry alone and focus on the core function of the Federal government - the security and safety of American citizens. The time, energy, and resources used in this manipulation of the natural course of evolving communication is a wasteful use of taxpayer dollars. They would be much better spent on needed functions, such as securing our borders.
