From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I am opposed to absolutely any further encroachment by the federal government and/or any of its agencies on activities of the press, in any of its forms, particularly with respect to creating new agencies or creating/increasing taxes to fund such activities. While it is clear there is a sea change in how news media adapts to electronic means, it is still the problem of the media to figure out how to adapt, just as the nation adapted to the loss of horse transportation and all of the associated business models when motor vehicles became commonplace. Please adopt a stance similar to that of physicians, to wit, "never do harm to anyone". By letting the free market, i.e., American Capitalism, take its course the Commission will be correctly following this prescription.
