From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I would like to voice my opposition to the FTC’s effort to control speech through the “Reinvention of Journalism” act. This is an attempt to drown out voices that are contrary to the desires of the current administration, increase taxes, and control another segment of society. This is an outrageous power play reminiscent of a dictatorship. The members of the FTC should be concerned that they might be handing a mighty tool to a future administration that they don’t agree with. Bailing out journalism will make news agencies indebted to whims of whatever administration is in office at the time and subsidizing their livelihood. John Dunnock
