From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I do not welcome any efforts by the FTC, the FCC, or ANY federal government agency which are aimed at taxing, limiting, censoring, abridging, re-defining, controlling, or in any way interfering with the mass media in America--whether it's radio, television, print, or Internet. Our First Amendment guarantees us the right of free speech-- FREE speech, not taxed speech! If American journalistic outlets are in a financial decline, there's a good reason for that--but NO reason whatsoever for the federal government to bail them out by extorting more taxes from its citizens. As for the government being in charge of "overseeing" what goes out on the radio, television, or Internet, that's already been tried elsewhere--I believe it was called PRAVDA--and it resulted in 70 years of slavery. Hands off the American media!!
