From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I am writing in regards to the FTC's proposed "rescue" of the journalism industry. This is completely ridiculous and unconstitutional. The press isn't exactly free if their funding comes from the federal government. This would create conflicts of interest of the worst kind. Let the journalism industry figure out how to stay relevant and competitive on their own, I'm sure they will figure something out. The American people will always have a need for news organizations and there will always be some organizations that will fill the void, whether it be on the internet, television, newspaper, etc. The government, including the FTC, needs to stay out of the way and refuse to become entangled in this issue.
