From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The FTC should not impose additional restrains, including any taxes, on electronic information, or any other information for that matter. Tax is a penalty on activity, and hinders rather than enhances the freedom of that activity. That certain news media cannot survive because of their unacceptable message is part of the free-market that the FTC is empowered to enforce, not to hinder with additional regulations and taxes. I suggest that the FTC spend its efforts reducing all unnecessary overhead, including personnel, for that certain time in the future when its budget will be scrutinized in a manner consistent with meaningful, purposeful, helpful government programs. The FTC should not be in the "biased news" business.
