From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The federal government should not be involved in either preparing the next generation of journalists, nor should it - in any way- provide any funding or other aid to the news media. Newspapers Must be completely independent of state aid (as they are of state restraint) to maintain their independence. If they can't survive in a free marketplace, other forms of media and sources of news and information will take their place, with no loss to the informed public. It is unconstitutional to aid any form of media, and the end effect will be to make all newspapers organs of state propaganda. If the state provides funding for newspapers, the industry (like any other) will become moribund; the taxpayer will end up perpetually supporting a dying media.
