From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I oppose your "reinventing journalism" proposals. I also oppose your taxation and opposition to conservative speech. Firstly, we cannot afford anymore new TAXES. We should not have to carry the burden of the journalism industry. American citizens have more to pay for: like food, housing, schooling and bare necessities in this jobless society we are living in. Why are you burdening the people of this nation? If the journalism industry needs money; then they should raise it themselves or work for it like the rest of America. You are also attacking the first amendment. I may not like many things that are said on a daily basis, but all people have the right to a voice. You obviously believe that a voice only has a right when it agrees with a certain agenda. Left wing radio shows and the like fail because no one wants to listen to them. You cannot force people to like something. It seems that you feel that using force is o.k. to push through unpopular ideas. Control of speech and media is akin to a dictatorship where the government controls both entities. This is very unpopular with the majority of America and will only backfire. You will assist with the removal of all incumbents in November. Americans will hold Congress and the present administration responsible. You will also hurt the FTC. Maybe you will run out of money too and will not be given any assistance. Tables turn. Back off of our citizens. Try to think of some creative ideas to help the sad state called journalism besides taxation. Have you ever thought about why it is dying? Because there are few true journalists and many of them lie to the American people. This is well known. There is a time for all to die and for all things to end. Everything cannot and should not be saved. Newspapers and tv journalists will eventually lose out to the new media. It is a result of the times we are presently living in and our technology. Wasting taxpayers' precious dollars won't change anything except maybe someone may not eat or pay a bill. Be sensible. This proposal is outrageous.
