From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
I think the "drudge Tax" is an assinine piece of legislation and that having a "Citizenship Media Fund" sounds like something that would happen in China. Why don't you just call it the "People's Daily Worker State Sponsored Journalist Fund"? That sounds a little more accurate. Bailouts for Journalism also are a senseless waste of taxpayer funds. If they can't pay their salaries with advertising and circulation, they should go down! No one wants to hear it or read it from them! Why would I want to pay for a media source I don't even want to pay attention to? When taxpayers are funding the media and the government is controlling and taxing content, then we don't live in a free society. Eat it.
