From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
Journalism is still necessary and valuable in today's world, but journalists must be trained in impartiality, fairly representing the views they become aware of, without distortion. They certainly do not need extra financial help to study--they are under the same urgent need as everyone else to adequately train themselves for the workplace as it exists and as it is evolving. There is already help available for people who wish to/are preparing for a new career, including journalists. I strongly oppose any additional taxes or fees levied for the specific purpose of training journalists.
