From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
PLease keep the government out of journalism! Any interference by government - whether by subsidy or tax or other means - stifles the free exchange of ideas. It is the uninhibited flow of ideas and the access to timely information and to varied perspectives - especially via the internet - that spur critical thought and lead to thoughtful and informed citizens. The internet has helped to expand the market of ideas by providing alternatives to the printed news, and prevents people from blindly believing what they see on TV or hear on the radio. Informed and independent-thinking citizens are essential to a productive America! Let the free market of ideas manage itself! As an aside, I'll point out that America simply can't afford to spend tax dollars to prop up yet another faltering industry. Thank you for considering my ideas.
