From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
While the accurate dissemination of information to the public is very important, it should not be funded by government-mandated taxpayer dollars. Nor should support for, or allegiance to opinions or ideologies, whether printed, spoken, or electronically posted, be expected, demanded, or extracted from the individual or general public against their will. In a free, capitalistic society, journalism should be allowed to find its own way to exist and thrive. Every other type of business seems to know how to adapt and change--especially when it comes to our computer-driven society. Please let journalism do the same.
