From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The 1st amendment guarantees the right of free speech. Emphasis should be on the "free." That means that the Federal Government must keep it's hands off. If the Federal Government gets to choose who should be heard, what venues, how much air time, etc., it's no longer free speech. The American people and the market place should be the deciding factor. We should be able to listen to what we want. If the media is not producing a product that we want then they should suffer the consequence. The market place is the deciding factor. The media must recognize this fact and act accoringly. We, the American people, should not be subjected to media that we don't want to listen to,read or see to placate those who's message is not in our interest.
